The Worx Training Center (formerly iO South) is an integrated, full-service, state-of-the-art improvisation training facility. We offer training and performance opportunities in both short- and long-form improvisation. We also provide extension classes related to improv in specialized areas.

Since our founding in 1989, we have trained over 2000 students. Nearly 400 of those have eventually appeared in ComedyWorx or Late Night at the Worx performances. Alumni of this program have performed in Europe, around the U.S including nationally recognized improv venues in Chicago, NYC and LA.

Our expert instructors offer programs for the performing and non-performing communities. Each instructor creates a highly supportive environment for you and the other students. Even if you don't want to perform there is a lot to gain from participating these very reasonably priced workshops. But it all starts with signing up. SO DO IT NOW!!!!!

ComedyWorx Program (Short-form Improvisation)

This program could lead to performing in the ComedyWorx show. The training begins with exercises, and then focuses on skills, and finally the games you see in the ComedyWorx shows. The lessons also enhance many life and business skills such as self-confidence, spontaneity, teamwork, problem solving, and trust. So involved in this program to grow as an individual or perform at the Worx.

Chicago-style Program (Long-form Improvisation)

This program can lead to performing as part of Late Night at the Worx on a long-form team. As with all our training you do not have to want to perform to find value in the training. Participation in the long-form program enhances many life skills, which are useful at home, school, business and life in general. There are 5 classes in this program:

Beginning 1 - Patterns and Agreement
Beginning 2 - Group Improvisation
Intermediate - Scene work
Advanced - Long-form Improvisation
Performance Improv
