Bio: Steve Sunshine
With a career spanning more than 3 decades, Steve Sunshine, along with his wife Madeline, has been a writer-producer and showrunner for network television, including the hit 1980’s series “Webster” (before most of you were born) and the Julie Andrews Show, where they wrote and produced musical numbers for the legendary star.
Julie’s husband, famed director Blake Edwards who created the Pink Panther franchise, invited Steve and Madeline to write a “Panther” screenplay with him – Son of the Pink Panther with Roberto Benigni. (Bombed at the box office, but Steve’s learned to say it made him stronger.)
Steve has also teamed up with actor-comedian Howie Mandel, to write and direct the award winning documentary, “Committed,” about a standup comic trying to make it in show business.
In the early 2,000s Steve was hired by the NBC/Warner Bros. entertainment news show, EXTRA, where he covered the worlds of TV and politics.
As a senior producer, he created segments with A-list stars like Tom Cruise and Stephen Spielberg, and top political leaders like Barack and Michelle Obama -- in the White House and on the campaign trail.
Steve is a past president of the Show Coalition and board member of the Creative Coalition -- entertainment industry groups that advocate for the arts. Currently he works with non-profits in the Triangle creating content that encourage people – especially young people - to register and vote.
As a producer and writer, Steve has been honored with 2 EMMYs. In addition, he and his wife Madeline are the recipients of a People’s Choice Award for Best Comedy Series and the NAACP Image Award for Best Comedy Writing.
