The First 30 Seconds  Saturday, April 29  11am - 1pm

In Improvisation scenes, the ending often lies in the beginning. Joe Bill will show you how to begin your scenes with the kind of focus, vitality, & playfulness that will help you play scenes that have a marriage of depth & humor. The group will use acting skills and an awareness of psychology to deconstruct the first 30 seconds of a scene. This will show you how you can be aware of the answers to 3 initial key questions (“Who am I?”, “Who are you?” & “Who are WE?”), even before dialogue begins! This helps to raise the chances for meaningful character connection & discovery, whether you are playing for “game of the scene” or “pattern of emotional and psychological truth.”

Price: $45   Capped at 24 participants

Game Brain, Scene Brain  Sunday, April 30  11am - 2pm

This workshop will help improvisers that are early in their studies of Improvisation to understand the differences in how their brains work when they are playing improv games versus when they are improvising scenes. Participants will cover how the harmony of these two functions can be vital in playing Longform, Narrative, & “Game of The Scene.” There are psychological differences that happen when we play for laughs versus when we play for emotional truths. Joe Bill has studied the psychology and neuroscience involved in improvisation for more than 30 years and aims to help anyone who is in the first 10 years of their improvisation journey to understand immediately what is going on in an improv show/scene/game, in ANY context. By the time you leave this workshop. Joe will help you gain confidence and feel more connected so you can just PLAY!

Price: $60    Capped at 18 participants

Or attend both workshops for the discounted price of $90 - a savings of almost 15%!
